Croatia’s Minister of Tourism Darko Lorencin will this week visit Korea, Japan and China as part of his tour of Asia to promote Croatia as a tourist destination…
Lorencin met with Korea’s Culture, Sports and Tourism Minister, Kim Jongdeok, on Monday, as he attempts to capitalise on the interest shown in Croatia recently from Korean tourists. Thanks largely to a popular Korean reality TV show which was filmed in Croatia, the number of Koreans to visit Croatia grew by over 200%. The popularity has even led to a Korean entrepreneur opening a hostel predominantly for Koreans in the capital Zagreb.
Lorencin will discuss with Korean, Japanese and Chinese tourism officials Croatia’s tourism development strategy for the period until 2020, which includes its 365 campaign to attract tourists all year round to Croatia. The Tourism Minister will also discuss investment opportunities in the tourism sector, such as former military property which can be turned into tourist complex. Improving air travel connections between those Asian destinations and Croatia is also on the agenda.
