Kladešćica, in the town of Sveti Ivan Zelina in Zagreb County, will this weekend play host to the traditional 23rd Zelina Chestnut Festival.
Due to the existing measures of protection against the spread of the coronavirus infection, this year’s chestnut festival will not be able to be held in the traditional way, but it has been adapted to the current epidemiological measures.
This year there will be no offers of cooked food, organised arrivals on foot or by bike, socialising with live music, autumn mushroom festivals, a competition in cooking in a cauldron, sports games, a covered tent with tables.
This year, with a little more physical distancing, the fun will happen in front of the mountain house “Kladeščica”.
“We prepared roasted chestnuts, homemade sausages and homemade Zelina craft beer as well as other drinks. The number of seats and tables is limited and we invite you to bring your blankets, chairs and other similar props so that you can find for yourself and your friends the ideal place to relax on the beautiful Zelina mountain,” organisers said.
The City of Sveti Ivan Zelina once again this year donates chestnuts to everyone who comes first on foot and meets volunteers along the way.
“We invite you all to adapt together, preserve health and tradition and enjoy the 23rd Zelina Chestnut Festival. Let’s enjoy nature, fresh air, chestnuts and be responsible and happy,” organisers concluded.
