Traffic Jams At Croatian Border Crossings As Season Hits Peak

The holiday long weekend has kicked off with heavy traffic jams at several border crossings coming into Croatia on Saturday.

With a number of Croats taking advantage of the long weekend, and also a large number of Europeans escaping the heat and heading to coast, many roads to popular Croatian summer spots were jammed on Saturday. Those stuck in long ques, some reportedly as line as 16 kilometres, also had the heat to battle with as Croatia was in the midst of another heat wave. Temperatures are expected to again reach close to 40 degrees celsius on Saturday. Ques exiting the capital Zagreb at Lucko were over 5km as locals headed for relief at the seaside.
