Two films from Croatia have been selected to grace the festival’s screen.
One of the featured films, “Traces (Tragovi),” directed by the talented Dubravka Turic, delves into the poignant journey of anthropologist Ana, who grapples with an identity crisis following the passing of her father.
Through her research on ancient symbols, Ana finds herself embarking on a transformative quest, where the traces of the past gradually unveil a gateway to her future.
The film has garnered substantial acclaim, earning the honor of being Croatia’s official submission to the Academy Awards for the Best Foreign Film category.
The documentary film “Opera Selecta,” a 73-minute film directed by Lana Pavić, is the second Croatian film at the festival.
The documentary depicts the bustling preparations for a classical music festival in Trogir, highlighting the excitement surrounding the anticipated performance by renowned soprano Olga Peretyatko at the historic Kamerlengo tower.
While the tower’s impeccable acoustics captivate Peretyatko, the presence of overhead aircraft serves as a poignant reminder of the clash between traditional artistry and the impact of mass tourism.
