“A satisfied guest wanted to meet me. I go out and it is Bono!,” said Croatian chef Hrvoje Zirojević, who made headlines today after U2 lead singer was blown away by his culinary skills…
U2 are in currently holidaying in Croatia and on Wednesday Bono visited Paklinski Islands, just off the island of Hvar, for a bite to eat. After enjoying a meal at Laganini Lounge bar on Palmižana, the U2 lead singer was so impressed that he wanted to personally meet chef Zirojević.
“I was working in the kitchen and the waiter came in and said a guest wants you to go to their table to meet you as they said the food was phenomenal,” Hrvoje told daily Jutarnji list. “The gentleman who wanted to meet me was Bono Vox.”
Zirojević, a fan of U2’s music and of Bono as a humanitarian, then discussed his menu with the Irish star, as well as talking about the Croatian island and music over a glass of wine.
“It was a happy, calm, and normal group of guys who came to enjoy the food and peace. Bono praised my lunch, saying the food was brilliant. He took my phone number. I don’t know, maybe he will come back one day or bring some friends,” said Hrvoje.
Later in the afternoon Bono publicly praised the Croatian chef on U2’s official Facebook page.
Bono is not the first celebrity that Zirojević has cooked for and met. A few years ago he cooked for Beyonce, as well as former AC Milan and Chelsea striker Andriy Shevchenko.
