UEFA Nations League: Croatia Gets Tough Group

Croatia has been drawn in a tough group for the inaugural UEFA Nations League competition after the draw was made in Lausanne, Switzerland on Wednesday.
Croatia has been drawn in the League A group with Spain and England.
The inaugural UEFA Nations League will be played from September to November 2018, just after the World Cup in Russia, and will replace international friendlies.

1. Spain
2. England
3. Croatia
Teams in League A have been split into four groups of three, with the group winners contesting the UEFA Nations League Finals (semi-finals, third-place match and final) in June 2019 to become the UEFA Nations League winners.
The last placed team in the group will be relegated to League B for the next competition.

In the group games, all teams will play each other home and away, held over six matchdays during in September, October and November 2018.
The UEFA Nations League Finals competition for the teams that win the four groups within the top division is scheduled for June 2019.
The group winners in Leagues B, C and D gain promotion and those who finish bottom of the groups in Leagues A, B and C will be relegated.

The UEFA Nations League will take place every two years. The next season it will be played will be in 2020/21.

The new UEFA Nations League stems from the desire of UEFA and its 55 member associations to improve the quality and standing of national team football.
