When it comes to acknowledging his Croatian heritage, UFC heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic has always been very proud.
The 35-year-old American-born fighter, who created UFC history by defending his belt three times earlier this year, has always worn his heart on his sleeve when it comes to his Croatian heritage.
The part-time fireman, who has visited the land of his parents four times and is planning on another visit soon, is proud of his roots.
“I use every opportunity to highlight it and I am proud of it. After all, that is one of the reasons why I have asked American journalists and television reporters to accurately pronounce my name and surname, and not say it like “Majosik” or something,” he said in an interview, before adding.
“I have two tattoos. One is a Croatian coat of arms and the other is our family coat of arms. I am proud that I have Croatian roots.”
So when he was chosen to be the face of UFC partner beer brand Modelo, Miocic made sure to make mention of his heritage in the new 1-minute spot which has just been released.
“Every time I fight and I come out and see a bunch of Croatian cheeker jerseys its overwhelming,” Stipe stars off saying.
