US Open 2020: Borna Ćorić misses out on first Grand Slam semifinal

NEW YORK, 8 September 2020 – Croatia’s Borna Ćorić has been knocked out by fifth seed Alexander Zverev in the quarterfinals of the US Open on Tuesday. 

Ćorić, who is the tournament’s 27th seed, put in an impressive performance in the first set but was beaten by the German in four sets, 1-6, 7-6, 7-6, 6-3 in 3 hours and 24 minutes.

The result is the 23-year-old’s best at a Grand Slam. 

Zverev will meet the winner of the quarterfinal match between Pablo Carreño Busta from Spain, who advanced after Novak Djoković was disqualified, and Canada’s Denis Shapovalov in the semifinal.
