German Bundesliga club Wolfsburg have signed huge Croatian teenage talent Josip Brekalo for a reported 10 million euros…
Wolfsburg confirmed the signing of the Dinamo Zagreb and Croatian youth international attacker on Sunday. Speaking to the club’s website general manager Klaus Allofs said that the Croatian would be given time to be ready for the first team.
“We are delighted that Josip Brekalo has opted for a move to VfL Wolfsburg. He is a very talented player, who is just at the beginning of his development and he has a huge future ahead of him. With us, he will be given the time he needs to definitively establish himself in the senior team,” he said.
“Josip is a very fast player, who is particularly strong in one-on-one situations. He is the ideal addition to our attacking game and increases our variation and flexibility in that area,” coach Dieter Hecking added.
Although the club would not release details of the deal, it has been reported that the deal is worth around 10 million euros (5 million immediately – plus 2 over 2 years and 3 if he is sold). If true it would make the Croatian the 5th most expensive teen in history.
Brekalo, who is 17, caught the eye of clubs around the world after turning in standout performances at the FIFA U-17 World Cup recently. Brekalo is a special talent and the future looks bright for the teen who scored on his Dinamo Zagreb first team debut recently.
