Marko Purišić, better known as Baby Lasagna, came in second place with his song “Rim Tim Tagi Dim” behind Switzerland at Eurovision 2024, which took place in Malmo, Sweden, last night.

Today, he was welcomed back home in the Croatian capital.

Around 10,000 people gathered to welcome Baby Lasagna at the main city square around 3 PM on Sunday.

“I was expecting twenty people. Thank you so much. We’re just kids. None of us is over 32 years old. We did everything ourselves, even took time off work. We’ve proven it’s possible. Thank you, Zagreb!” an emotional Marko exclaimed from the stage to the gathered crowd.

“A big congratulations to Marko and his team, who rocked the final and performed even better than in the semi-finals, despite everyone thinking it wasn’t possible. We’re disappointed with the jury votes, which for the second year in a row gave the win to the audience favourite.

For us, Marko won first place at Eurovision, and he deserves this welcome here at Ban Jelačić Square, where thousands of people eagerly await him,” said Mayor Tomislav Tomašević, thanking everyone, especially the performers – Let 3, Tajči, and Emilija Kokić – who helped organise this welcome party in just 12 hours.

Hailing from Umag in Istria, Marko (28) embarked on his musical journey as a guitarist for the Croatian rock band Manntra.

He won over the Croatian public, as well as the voting public, with his humbleness and down to earth nature. Check out the video below.
