December the 3rd, 2018 will be a day Luka Modrić will not forget.
The Croatian captain was declared the 63rd winner of the iconic Ballon d’Or on Monday in Paris, capping off a phenomenal year which saw him create history by also winning the World Cup Golden Ball, UEFA Player of the Year and FIFA Player of the Year.
Real Madrid Television was on hand to capture Modrić’s special day and have published a behind the scenes video from the day.
The video features Luka’s departure from Madrid on the club’s private plane with parents Stipe and Radojka, as well as footage of him getting ready in his hotel room and returning to his teammates at the club with the Ballon d’Or.
Modrić finished 277 points ahead of Cristiano Ronaldo and 399 points ahead of France’s Antoine Griezmann who were second and third respectively.
