Split’s coastal neighbourhood of Žnjan is undergoing a significant transformation, marking the city’s largest urban redevelopment in over half a century.
The €45 million project, primarily funded by the European Investment Bank, is converting Žnjan into a modern recreational hub.
Plans include the development of sports courts, cycling paths, promenades, and children’s playgrounds, offering a variety of activities for both locals and visitors.
The redevelopment has reached its final phase, with the completion of a steel dome over the new amphitheatre.
This structure spans 52 metres in diameter and stands 10.5 metres tall. Constructing the dome was a complex task, requiring precision within two millimetres. Work is now progressing on the amphitheatre’s seating and interior fittings.

Interior work continues on various buildings across the plateau, with installations of windows, doors, tiles, and insulation.
Some structures are nearing completion and will soon be handed over to selected operators. In the underground garage, electrical and mechanical installations are underway, alongside interior finishing.
The garage roof is being transformed into sports courts, complete with fencing and spectator stands.
