VIDEO: Croatia ushers in 2024 with open-air parties

Croatia ushered in the arrival of 2024 last night, as the nation celebrated New Year’s Eve with open air parties across its major cities.
Once again, a large number of towns and cities cancelled public fireworks displays and festivities went off without a hitch.
Temperatures were above average around the country on Sunday and earlier in the day, kids’ New Year’s Eve celebrations took place at midday in a number of towns and cities, offering free concerts and fun activities for the little ones.
In Dubrovnik, Stradun was packed as locals and tourists saw in the New Year to the sounds of Zdravko Čolić and the Ante Gelo Band.

Split, too, had a day filled with music, kicking off with the tunes of Matko and Brane in the morning program. As night descended, the stage came alive with performances by Grše, Doris Dragović, and Kuzma & Shaka Zulu.
The capital city, Zagreb, collaborated with Let 3 and the Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra. Meanwhile, Rijeka welcomed the new year with the melodies of Croatian musician Gibonni.
In Vukovar, popular young artist Matija Cvek took the stage, whilst Zadar reverberated with music as Jole wished locals a tourists a happy New Year at Trg Petra Zoranića.

In Osijek, Mia Dimšić entertained the kids at midday before Parni valjak played to welcome in the New Year later in the evening.
Later in the evening, Ivica Sikirić Ićo continued the lively celebration at Narodni trg in Zadar.
In Šibenik, the New Year’s Eve concert featured the dynamic Stereo MC’s and DJ Felver, along with Psihomodo Pop.
In Trogir, Kuzma and Shaka Zulu hosted a party on the crowded main square for the morning New Year’s Eve celebration, whilst the Centrifuga band played as locals and tourists welcomed in the New Year in the evening. At midnight, a fireworks display marked the beginning of the New Year.
Rovinj saw Dubioza Kolektiv taking center stage, ensuring that the party-goers were entertained.
