Before last night’s MLB game played between NY Mets and the Texas Rangers at Citi Field in New York City, the Croatian owner of the iconic Delmonico’s restaurant got to throw the ceremonial first pitch.

The pitch was thrown by Delmonico’s owner Denis Turčinović, whilst Delmonico’s  partner, Joseph Licul, another Croatian-American, successfully made the catch, earning applause from the crowd.

The reason for this honor was once again the reopening of Delmonico’s restaurant in Manhattan, known as the first fine dining restaurant with a rich history and iconic status in the gastronomic and tourist scene.

This is part of the honors that have been bestowed upon them in New York in celebration of their reopening. Just a few weeks ago, by ringing the “Opening Bell” at the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), they inaugurated trading on the largest American stock exchange.

Turčinović is of Croatian descent, and he has assembled a Croatian team of professionals around him who have revitalized this popular establishment, reopening at its original address – 56 Beaver Street in the Financial District, right on Wall Street.

You can watch a video of the first pitch below.
