Croatian film ‘The Constitution’ has won the Grand Prize for Best International Feature Film at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival.
The Constitution beat 31 other feature films from around the world to win the Jeffrey C. Barbakow Award for Best International Feature Film, which was collected by actress Leona Paraminski.
The 11-day Santa Barbara Film Festival is one of the leading film festivals in the United States with over 200 films and 90,000 visitors annually.
The film, directed by Rajko Grlić and produced by Interfilm and Croatian Radio Television (HRT), chronicles three very different people who live in the same building, and who, through fate, and against their will, has suddenly made them dependent on each other.
Grlić and Ante Tomić wrote the script, the director of photography was Branko Linta, the scenographer Željka Burić, the costume designer Leo Kulaš, and the make-up artist was Ana Bulajić Črček.
Ivan Maloča produced the film which stars Nebojša Glogovac, Ksenija Marinković and Dejan Aćimović.
It is not the only award the film has received, it also won best film at the 40th Montreal World Film Festival.
