2 January 2019 – English Championship club Aston Villa FC have presented their new signing, Croatian keeper Lovre Kalinić on Wednesday.
Kalinić (28) has joined the club on a 5-year deal from Belgium club Gent for a reported £7m.
The Croatian is set to make his debut this weekend against Swansea in the FA Cup and today he spoke to Aston Villa TV after completing his first training at his new club.
“I am really excited because I was close to signing three years ago (for Villa) and now I have the chance. I have played twice in England at Wembley with my club once and once for Croatia,” Kalinić said in his first interview.
Kalinić, who has 14 caps for Croatia, is now the national team’s number one choice after Danijel Subašić retired. Aston Villa currently sits eighth in the Championship, three points off the play-off positions.
