The Croatian football team have found time between training sessions to cheer up a group of kids at the KBC Zagreb hospital.
Croatia face Iceland at Maksimir stadium in a 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier on Saturday and in between preparing for the clash star players Luka Modrić, Ivan Rakitić, Vedran Ćorluka, Mario Mandžukić and Danijel Subašić joined coach Ante Čačić in a visit to KBC hospital in the capital.
The players took time to chat with the hospital’s youngest patients and also distributed around small gifts.
“I am glad that today we could visit the hospital and brighten up the day for the children. Emotions are big coming here, where you see the children you realise that the little problems we have are nothing compared to this. I am really happy that I am able to cheer the kids up and take part in the humanitarian action”, captain Modrić said.
One of the side’s major sponsors INA donated a cheque of 150,000 kuna to the hospital on the day. The money will be used to improve facilities at the Institute for neonatology and neonatal intensive medicine.
