Križevci, the newly opened Bikademy Study, guides students through the extraordinary nature of the Kalnik Prigorje region, as well as the cultural heritage of the area.
In addition to the city itself, the Križevci Study includes five more checkpoints: Old Obreške Huts, Čabraji and Kapela Ravenska Lakes, Kalnik Old Castle, and Gornja Rijeka.
Many know Križevci as the “Gateway to Prigorje,” so the campaign is aptly named “Gates to the Adventures.” The opening of the Study was made possible by the Tourist Board of the City of Križevci, the Croatian National Tourist Board (HTZ), and the Koprivnica-Križevci County, in partnership with Bikademy, Enna Group, and Giant Croatia.
Bikademy is an innovative cyclotourism concept that, just like a formal academy, has students, studies, and checkpoints. In the free Bikademy app, you need to choose a study – a region or city, and cycle to checkpoints – locations within the study.
The checkpoints include not only well-known cultural and natural landmarks but also hidden gems worth discovering.
To complete a study and win a reward, you need to check in through the app at the designated checkpoints within your chosen study. You can cycle through the checkpoints over multiple days and in any order you prefer.
Bikademy is available throughout Croatia, in five Slavonian counties, Istria, Zagreb, Šibenik, Rab, and on the island of Pag.
Krešimir Herceg, the owner of Bikademy, emphasizes that their mission is to inspire people to explore cultural and natural heritage by bicycle, while also promoting destinations as desirable for cyclotourists. He believes that the Kalnik Prigorje region is an ideal destination for cycling, especially in the early autumn and spring.
“More and more cyclists and cyclotourists are visiting our region, and interactive initiatives like Bikademy enable us to further position ourselves with athletes and recreational travelers who love to explore. We are strategically focused on the development of active tourism, and our collaboration with Bikademy is assisting us in this endeavor,” added Olinka Gjigaš, Director of the Tourist Board of the City of Križevci.
