Late last year Croatia Week featured a story about the mission of Father Miro Babic (37) in Kenya. Based in the small village of Subukia, the young Croatian priest is running an orphanage, providing education for young children and housing for many families. Babic and his dedicated team of volunteers, including fellow Croats Ana Josipovic, Mijo Majhen, and Filip Renic, are making a huge difference to the lives of many in the small African village and they could not do it alone. When Croatia Week sent a plea out for donations to help the cause, New Zealand’s generous Croatian community rallied around to help out, and in turn putting a smile on many faces.
