Dinamo Zagreb captain Joe Simunic has kicked-off after his sides scrappy 1:0 (6:0) victory over Luxembourg champions CS Fola Esch in the 2nd qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League at Zagreb’s Maksimir stadium last night.
Dinamo Zagreb, who won the first leg away 5:0, needed a penalty get past Fola, and their Croatian international captain was not impressed.
“I am ashamed. I am 35 years old and I have seen everything in my career, but a performance as bad as we showed today…I have never seen. I can not understand that some players do not value that they live in this beautiful city, that they play for the biggest Croatian club, they have everything they could wish for and then they act like this,” said a fired up Simunic after last night’s effort.
When asked if as captain did he give them a grilling in the changing rooms, ‘crazy Joe’ simply said; ” I did not ‘line them up’, what can I do, if they do not understand that everyday they need to be better, then nobody can explain that to them,” said Simunic.
