14 September 2019 – A new promotional video for the “Croatian Island Product” project, which encourages Croatian island producers to produce original and quality products, has been released this week.
The “Croatian Island Product” project was implemented back in 2007 by the Ministry of Regional Development and European Union Funds with the intention of stimulating the islands in the production of original and quality products.
The main objective is to identify and distribute quality island products which will be recognised as such both in Croatia and abroad. These products result from island tradition, research and development, innovation and invention with a quantifiable level of quality.
The “Croatian Island Product” (Hrvatski Otočni Proizvod) approval label has been awarded to 297 producers in Croatia with more than 800 products carrying the label from 23 Croatian islands since the project launched.
Those islands include Brač, Hvar, Vis, Korčula, Pag, Krk, Lastovo, Dugi Otok, Rab, Cres, Lošinj, Prvić, Ugljan, Mljet, Šolta, Žirje, Pašman, Iž, Murter, Olib, Kornat, Rava, Silba and the Pelješac Peninsular.
The products include foodstuffs (wine, brandy, liqueur, olive oil, cheese, confectionery, fish, salad marinades, jams and honey), cosmetic and clothing products and souvenirs.
