VIDEO: New Oliver Dragojević song released on anniversary

On the sixth anniversary of the passing of legendary Croatian singer Oliver Dragojević, the premiere of the music video for his new song “Vrime je” was broadcast as part of the “Trag u beskraju” concert in his hometown of Vela Luka.

The video and song moved many of those gathered in Vela Luka as well as viewers watching on TV.

“Oliver was a special person whose songs touched our souls and coloured our lives with unique hues. Oliver is music, Oliver is the sea… It was a pleasure to share notes with Oliver and collaborate with Marijan Ban, witnessing how he infused his unique essence into a song through his singing. ‘Vrime je’ is an emotional song, the result of beautiful moments spent with music and dear friends. It was created about ten years ago, and I am glad we now have the opportunity to share it with everyone,” said Tomislav Mrduljaš about the song and his collaboration with Oliver.

The emotional accompanying video for “Vrime je” was directed by Toni Mijač, who revealed his inspiration for the visual concept:

“The inspiration for the ‘Vrime je’ video came to me after just a few listens to the song, immersing myself in Oliver’s magical interpretation, the melancholic lyrics, and the melody that creates a beautiful yet painful impression.

When considering the visualisation of the song, ideas came to me about following a person who, after parting from or losing a very close person, adapts to a new reality, undergoing a catharsis of releasing past entrapments and finding happiness in the present with beautiful memories accompanying them.

After writing the scenes, I saw an opportunity to include certain motifs from Oliver’s previous videos that contributed to his visual distinctiveness. I saw this as a chance for an additional tribute and homage to the great legend, hoping that viewers would recognise and appreciate these motifs.”

“Vrime je” is a gentle, emotional, and nostalgic song, exactly the type Oliver’s numerous fans are accustomed to. It follows the major hit “Ne mogu ti reći,” released in March, which announced the album “Dolaziš,” featuring twelve new songs by Oliver.

The album’s creation involved two years of collecting and listening to material, investing hours in careful selection, and recalling all his comments and instructions to ensure every song would meet his approval.
