Things were busy in Dubrovnik on Monday as preparation for the filming of Star Wars Episode VIII got underway…
After tents were put up over weekend in the old town for the production crew, workers on Monday were busy on Dubrovnik’s main street Stradun constructing parts of the set in preparation for filming of the new Star Wars film which is set to take place from 9 – 16 March.
Heightened security measures will be put in place around the old town as filming draws closer. According to reports, the production crew will also employ its own drones to disable unauthorized camera drones from getting shots of the set.
Oscar-winner Benicio Del Toro and Jurassic Park and Enlightened star Laura Dern will star in follow-up to The Force Awakens, with reports that Del Toro will be in town for filming in March. The star of Traffic visited Dubrovnik last summer.
Filming for Star Wars: Episode VIII, which is written and directed by Rian Johnsons, is set to bring in 5 million euros to Croatia, making it the most expensive film production per day ever in the country.
