Rino Mašić, Croatia’s top arm wrestler, has just become a double world champion.

Competing against 1,600 participants from 61 countries in Moldova, Mašić didn’t just win one, but two world championship titles, both in the under 110 kg category.

Mašić’s remarkable achievement began with a gold medal in the left-hand competition, which he then followed up with another gold for his right hand. This incredible feat has earned him the title of the most successful arm wrestler of the year across all categories.

In fact, Mašić is currently a double European and World Champion, as well as a double gold medallist at the World Combat Games.

Expressing his joy after the competition, Mašić said, “Finally… two gold medals at the World Championships! Congratulations to SedIs Panzer for putting up a great fight! And also undefeated on the left and right hand! Thank you guys for the support, see you soon on the big stage!”

Hailing from the town of Gospić in Croatia, Mašić’s journey into arm wrestling began at just 13 years old, and he started to take the sport seriously by the age of 14.

In a previous interview with Croatia Week, Rino shared insights into his training regime: “I just do strength training, nothing else, although you can do ‘recovery’ training if your arms are in a lot of pain after a day of strength training, but besides that, I just do strength training.”

The multiple-time champion, who emphasises the importance of a protein-rich diet, also has some advice for those new to the sport or considering giving it a try. “My message to any new arm wrestlers coming to the sport or people who are interested in trying it out is just don’t give up and have patience. It takes a long time to find what suits you best when it comes to training or the style that you are going to use when arm wrestling on the table. Take your time and be smart; don’t hurt yourself when starting off. Watch some videos on how to set yourself up on the table and how to avoid the ‘arm break’ positions,” he concluded.
