After releasing a teaser back in July, the official trailer for the feature film Dražen was released last night.
The film Dražen follows the remarkable journey of the Croatian basketball legend Dražen Petrović, from his early years in Šibenik to his untimely death in 1993.
It is the first time his story is bought to the big screen.
Filmed on location in Šibenik, Zagreb, New Jersey, and New York, the movie captures the emotional depth of Dražen’s life story.
The film goes beyond Dražen’s achievements on the basketball court, exploring both the highs and lows of his personal life.
Young Dražen is portrayed by promising Šibenik actor Tonko Stošić, while Domagoj Nižić takes on the role of Dražen as an adult.
“Working on the film Dražen was both a challenging and emotional experience for me. Dražen Petrović’s story goes far beyond basketball and serves as an inspiration for all of us. I hope the film conveys that strength and message to every generation,” said Nižić.
Lead roles in the film are played by Nižić and Romina Tonković, with other notable appearances by Zrinka Cvitešić, Tonko Stošić, Lovre Tanfara, Dragan Mićanović, Victoria Hauer, Pavle Matuško, Filip Mayer, Vini Juričić, Mile Kekin, and Valentin Perković.
The film is set to be released in cinemas on 22 October 2024 in Šibenik, marking what would have been Dražen Petrović’s 60th birthday.
