An unusual cloud formation was observed over Hvar on Thursday, and it was even visible on the meteorological radar.

Due to the unstable atmosphere, waterspouts are possible in the open sea.

On the evening of Thursday, May 30th, portal Morski.hr. captured an unusual cloud system over the island of Hvar, which was also visible on the meteorological radar.

The scene was captured over the sea above Jelsa.

The unusual cloud formation is most likely a lesser-known type of cloud called undulatus asperatus, which scientists are still studying, particularly its impact on the climate.

This phenomenon, reported by Dalmacija Danas, is not classified in the standard cloud classification system, which is over half a century old and evidently in need of updates.

A series of gloomy and rainy days continued into Friday, with rainfall affecting almost the entire country. According to forecasters, this weather pattern is expected to persist through the weekend.
