At the recently held renowned International Tourist Film Festival ART & TUR in Portugal, Croatia’s Zadar Archipelago came into the spotlight thanks to the film ‘Zadar ArchipelaGO – Inviting Adventure’, which won second place in the category Tourism Product: Natural Tourism.
The sixteenth edition of the International Tourist Film Festival ART & TUR ended on October 28, 2023 in the city of Caldas da Rainha.
During the four-day event, 82 films from the shortlist for the competition were shown, selected from among 262 entries from 47 countries, and evaluated by a panel of 43 experts. ART&TUR is part of CIFFT, an international body that annually selects the world’s best tourist film at several festivals dedicated to the genre around the world.
In the production of the award-winning company Level 52 from Labin, a promotional film celebrating the natural beauty and adventurous spirit of the region through bike activities was shot for the nine associated tourist boards of the Zadar archipelago.
For the material that was filmed during five days last September, the authors traveled over 2,000 km across the Zadar archipelago.
Sanel Isanović, director of the Level 52 company, says about the scale and inspiration of the project:
“Taking into account the huge and inspiring area where we had the privilege to work, this film will reveal the exceptional possibilities of cycling on the beautiful islands of the Zadar archipelago. The planning of filming was particularly demanding due to the size of the area, which is an incredible 1,300 km² and includes around 300 islands. By choosing locations, we wanted to show the beauty and diversity of the Zadar island area.
This award is an additional recognition for the entire Level 52 team for such a demanding project. I would like to thank the director Ivana Čarić and her colleagues from other tourist boards involved in the project for recognizing the approach and the way in which Level 52 produces tourist films.”
With this award, an outstanding project promoting cycling on the Zadar islands was recognized, and the Zadar archipelago was put on the world map as a destination that offers incredible opportunities for active tourism and exploration of natural beauty.
This award is a supreme success and confirmation of the effort we invested in the development and promotion of active tourism. The film beautifully shows the specific combination of natural beauty and adventurous spirit that our guests can experience in the Zadar archipelago, and we hope that with this, as well as with two other promotional films that are currently being prepared on the topic of hiking and kayaking, we will attract people to our islands even more lovers of active tourism, said Ivana Čarić, director of the TZ of the municipality of Sali and the main coordinator of this project.
She emphasized that the united tourist boards will continue to work on the promotion and development of the archipelago’s tourism product, and this award is certainly an added incentive for future projects and awards.
