The long-awaited A11 motorway connecting Zagreb and Sisak has finally been completed after 18 years of construction, Večernji list reports.
The A11, when fully complete, connects Sisak and Velika Gorica with Zagreb and Zagreb Airport.
The final 10.9 kilometres of the motorway from Lekenik to Sisak have been equipped with all necessary infrastructure, including signage, safety barriers, and other equipment, and the finishing touches are currently being applied.
The A11 motorway between Zagreb and Sisak spans a total length of 42 kilometres.
So far, the section from the Jakuševec interchange to the Lekenik interchange, covering 30.1 kilometres, has been constructed and opened to traffic.
The Lekenik to Sisak interchange section, which is 10.9 kilometres long, features two separate carriageways, each with two lanes and a hard shoulder.
This section includes six road crossings with overpasses to replace interrupted existing roads, two smaller structures within the motorway, drainage systems, traffic equipment and signage, noise protection, and parallel roads.
This completion promises to enhance connectivity and ease travel between the two cities.
