For the past decade, the Croatian city of Vukovar has traditionally celebrated Valentine’s Day with a dinner and dance function for couples who have been married for 50 years or more.
Taking into account the epidemiological situation, the City of Vukovar decided for the 11th year to find a different way to continue this beautiful tradition.
In order to mark Valentine’s Day, married couples in Vukovar who have been together for 50 years or more, were presented with a gift voucher for lunch or dinner, which they can use until the end of February.
Today on Valentine’s Day, the Mayor of Vukovar Ivan Penava visited couples who have been married for 50 years and more and wished them many more years together in health, peace, love and happiness.
“In accordance with the epidemiological situation, we decided to make Valentine’s Day more beautiful for 42 married couples and we wish these people of Vukovar who teach us that understanding, respect and love are values to be nurtured, many more happy years together,” Penava said.
Marija and Ivan Bertok, who are celebrating 68 years of marriage this year, were the couple which had been together the longest from the couples celebrated by the City of Vukovar today.
