Vukovar water tower wins prestigious international award

Vukovarski Vodotornj (Vukovar water tower) has won the prestigious “Plautilla” International Cultural Tourist Award for the best project of restoration and valorization of cultural and historical heritage in the category of Historic city/locality/institution.
This recognition highlights the significance of the tower as a symbol of Croatian unity.
The award was presented at the 9th International Congress of Historic Cities, following a recommendation from the Tourist Board of the City of Vukovar.
The plaque with a gold sign was given by the Tourist Board of the City of Solin, Hotel President Solin, and the City of Solin.
Since its opening on October 30, 2020, the Vukovar water tower has welcomed over 210,000 visitors, with 111,133 visitors in the last year alone.
The tower has also hosted several events throughout the year, while continuously enhancing the experience for its visitors.
Today, the Vukovar water tower stands among the world’s greatest towers, making a significant contribution to the development, attractiveness, and tourism of Vukovar. The tower’s restoration has been a successful decision, as affirmed by this prestigious award.
The Vukovar water tower is a vital cultural and historical heritage site in Croatia, and this recognition will further promote its significance as a symbol of unity, perseverance, and hope.
