Vukovarska ada: Summer on Vukovar’s sandy island

The Island of Vukovar, known in Croatian as Vukovarska ada, is a sandy island on the river Danube located just a five minute boat ride from Vukovar.
This year’s summer season at Vukovarska ada started on July 2, and it again there is plenty to do on the island.
As in previous years, the City of Vukovar provides free transportation for visitors to Vukovarska ada, which is carried out every day from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

In the height of the season, Vukovarska ada was visited by the city mayor Ivan Penava, who pointed out that Vukovarska ada is the most beautiful beach in the continental part of Croatia, which shows all its beauties during the summer season.

“The current low water level of the Danube gives Vukovarska ada a special beauty and opulence. Thanks to the quality work and preparations of the city services and partners, all these years the summer on Vukovarska ada passed without any problems. This season too, everything is going excellent and in addition to the Danube, beaches and in thick shade, there are other facilities such as catering and a whole range of other social and sports facilities,” said Penava, inviting citizens and all visitors to Vukovar to find refuge from the summer heat on Vukovarska ada.

The head of the Administrative Department for Social Activities, Josip Paloš, explained that the City of Vukovar invests a lot of work and effort in the preparation of the summer season on Vukovarska ada.
“The City of Vukovar has provided free transportation for all visitors, and in order to bring this area to the required level for visiting and enjoying during the summer season, the entire area must first be cleaned, which we do every year,” said Paloš.
