15 February 2021 – There is no mistaking that it is winter in Croatia at the moment with snow falling on the Dalmatian islands and temperatures in temperatures in the minus across the country, but spring officially begins in a bit of five weeks when the equinox occurs on March 20, 2021.
So what is in store for spring? Leading global meteorology forecasting service AccuWeather has just released its annual spring forecast for Europe.
AccuWeather, who have a history of being accurate with their forecasts, says Croatia can expect stormy weather in early spring thanks to a southerly storm track.
“This southerly storm track will wane through the end of spring, but by May the damage will be done in the south,” AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Tyler Roys said, adding that the region will continue to have high precipitation events leading up to that point in spring. Roys has been with AccuWeather for nearly a decade and has spent his career focused on forecasting weather for Europe.
Croatia can expect periods of heavy rain and thunderstorms this spring which, particularly at the beginning of spring, increase the risk for flooding in some parts.
