Actor Woody Harrelson will be on the Croatian island of Vis as a guest of the second edition of the 35mm Vis Film Festival.
The festival, which will take place from 6th to 10th September, features the arrival of Harrelson, who will present the film The People vs. Larry Flynt, a cult classic directed by Miloš Forman.
This year’s festival, dedicated to films shot on 35mm film, will focus on the works of one of Europe’s greatest directors, Miloš Forman. Harrelson will be present at the screening of the film.
Harrelson was nominated for an Oscar for Best Actor for his role in the 1996 film, as well as for a Golden Globe and a SAG Award.
His portrayal of the controversial publisher Larry Flynt was praised for its authenticity and emotional depth, capturing the attention of critics and the Academy, and solidifying Harrelson’s status as one of the most prominent actors of his generation.
Harrelson recently starred alongside Justin Theroux in the series The White House Plumbers and in the sports comedy Champions. He also appeared in the film Triangle of Sadness, which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in 2022, winning the Palme d’Or and receiving an eight-minute standing ovation from the audience.
On 7th September, before the screening, Harrelson will introduce the film and participate in a brief discussion with the audience, during which he will share his memories of working with Forman and his reflections on the film.
He will be joined by Martina Forman, the late director Miloš Forman’s wife, who collaborated with him on numerous films, including this one.
Throughout the festival, attendees will have the opportunity to enjoy some of Forman’s most significant works, including the Oscar-winning One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest and the eight-time Academy Award-winning Amadeus.
