World Champion Arm Wrestler ‘Popeye’ to Compete in World Cup in Croatia

Around 200 of the world’s best arm wrestlers from Europe, Asia and Africa will be in Croatia’s capital Zagreb on 9 May for the World Arm Wrestling Cup – Sokol Marić 2015…
Organised by the Croatian Arm Wrestling Federation and the World Arm Wrestling Federation, a number of the world’s most famous arm wrestlers will be showing their strength in Zagreb, including Iran’s Mehdi Abdolvand, and the man they call popeye, Germany’s Matthias Schlitte.
The 195cm, 150kg Abdolvand, whose biceps measure 56cm, is one of the favourites to win the title in Zagreb. Schlitte, who has one of the biggest forearms in the world for his weight, 43cm to his 70kg frame, will be hoping to also for victory in his category in Croatia.
The World Cup event. which is being held under the auspices of the Ministry of Sport and Grad Zagreb, will be held on Zagreb’s Cvjetni trg (Flower square) on 9 May. There will be live streaming of the event.
