The world’s number one tennis player Novak Đoković had nothing but praise for veteran Ivo Karlović after his shock loss to the Croatian at the Qatar Open in Doha…
Big-serving Karlović hit 21 aces in his 6-7 (2/7), 7-6 (8/6), 6-4 victory over the world number one to reach the semi finals in Doha. It was 35-year-old Karlovic’s second career win over the world number one having also beaten him at the Madrid Masters in 2008. So what did the Serbian say at the net after his latest loss to the Croatian giant?
“He told me that I served great and that I played great all match. These words mean something when they come from the best player in the world,” 211cm Karlović told Tportal after the win.
“I was feeling good despite the wind. I know he wasn’t able to show his full range. I was relaxed and didn’t feel I had to do anything extraordinary. I just had to focus on my game,” said Ivo, who now faces Spaniard David Ferrer in the semis.
