World premiere of Dražen Petrović film to screen on 22 October

ZAGREB, 15 Oct (Hina) – The world premiere of a film about Croatia’s best basketball player, Dražen Petrović, is scheduled to take place on 22 October in Petrović’s hometown of Šibenik.
The film, directed by Danilo Šerbedžija, and produced by Ljubo Zdjelarević and Ivor Šiber, will have its premiere at Dalmare Centre on 22 October in memory of 22 October 1964, when Dražen was born.
The shooting of the film, dedicated to the world-famous basketball player, who was born in Šibenik and died in a car crash in Germany on 7 June 1993, was completed in New Jersey last year.
The film project, conducted in Šibenik, Zagreb, Madrid and the United States, was launched to mark the 60th anniversary of the birth of this basketball star.
A professional basketball player, Petrović earned two silver medals and one bronze in Olympic basketball, a gold and a bronze in the FIBA World Cup, a gold and a bronze in the FIBA EuroBasket, and two Euroleague titles.
Having initially achieved success playing professional basketball in Europe in the 1980s before joining the American NBA in 1989, he exerted huge influence on European and American basketball.
He was posthumously inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2002.
