World-renowned pianist Lola Astanova, who captivates audiences with her emotional interpretations of classical music and striking appearance, will be performing at the WTA Makarska Open by Valamar in the Croatian town of Makarska from June 5th to 11th.
Astanova has 1.1 million followers on Instagram, where she amazes fans with her energetic performances on the piano. Now, fans in Makarska will be able to witness Astanova’s talent in person during the women’s tennis tournament held at the foot of Biokovo mountain.
Although Lola Astanova is now known throughout the world, this is not her first visit to Croatia. In 2019, she performed at the final night of the WTA tournament in Bol, where she also recorded a video on the famous Golden Horn Beach that has since been viewed by over 1.6 million fans on YouTube.
However, for all participants and guests of the women’s tennis tournament in Makarska, Astanova has prepared a real musical treat.
Astanova is known for her energetic interpretations of works by Chopin, Liszt, and Rachmaninoff. She attended a specialized school for gifted children in her home country of Uzbekistan when she was only six years old, and began touring as a concert pianist at the age of eight.
She has performed with Andrea Bocelli at the Venice Biennale and is the most sought-after pianist in the world. She studied at the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory and emigrated to the United States in 2003, where she is now an absolute star. She has over 1.1 million followers on Instagram alone.
“My mother is a piano teacher and was actually against me playing the piano, but my father insisted and took me to the esteemed teacher Tamara Popovich. I am very passionate about the music I play. All the pieces I choose to play are very personal, and I think that’s important so that the audience can feel the emotions,” Astanova said in one of her interviews.
The event in Makarska will be a true spectacle, as it marks the 50th anniversary of the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) and features the performances of over 40 of the best female tennis players from Sweden, the Netherlands, Belgium, Slovakia, Montenegro, Italy, China, Luxembourg, Serbia, Slovenia, and Croatia.
