World tennis rankings: Career-highs for Vekić & Martić, Karlović jumps 31 places

7 January 2019 – Croatian players have made some moves in the latest ATP tennis rankings released on Monday after some good early season form.
Ivo Karlović, who on the weekend became the oldest ATP tour-level finalists in 42 years when he was runner-up at the Maharashtra Open in Pune, India, jumped 31 spots from 100 to 69.
In the WTA rankings, there were career-high rankings for two Croatian players.
Donna Vekić, who reached the semi-final of the Brisbane International last week, moved inside the top 30 for the first time and is now 29th. Petra Martić moved up two spots also to a new career-high of 31st in the world.
Croatia’s best ranked player is Marin Čilić who is 7th on the latest rankings. Borna Ćorić is next just outside the top 10 in 12th spot.
Novak Djoković is number one, followed by Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer, whilst Simona Halep is the number one ranked woman ahead of Angelique Kerber and Caroline Wozniacki heading into the first Grand Slam of the year.
