Croatian brands love to get in on the action on April Fool’s Day  with fake product launches and this year was no exception.

Some well-known companies came up with ‘new’ products that got social media talking. Here are a few:

Žuja Dressing – Because Beer Goes with Everything

Popular beer brand Ožujsko announced a brand-new product – Ožujsko dressing. A beer-flavoured salad dressing, perfect for those who think everything tastes better with a bit of Žuja.

Palacinka-Flavoured Pašteta from Gavrilović

Gavrilović, known for its meat products, came up with pašteta (pâté) flavoured like palačinke (pancakes). The thought of a sweet-meets-savoury spread had people both laughing and questioning if they would actually try it.

Instant Karlovačko – Just Add Water

Karlovačko ‘introduced’ instant beer. The concept was simple – just add water and enjoy a fresh pint of Karlovačko. While it’s not exactly how brewing works, the joke had people amused.

Dukat’s Chocolate Milk Lip Balm

Dukat, one of Croatia’s leading dairy brands, teased customers with a ‘revolutionary’ new beauty product – a lip balm flavoured like their famous chocolate milk. While many chocolate milk fans might have wished it were real, it was all part of the April Fool’s fun.

Baranjski Kulen took things to a whole new level with its ‘new’ perfume – with the scent of kulen. A perfect fragrance for those who truly love Slavonian delicacies? Maybe not.

Lino Lado, Croatia’s favourite chocolate-hazelnut spread, appeared in a totally unexpected form – as instant noodles. The idea of chocolate noodles was enough to spark reactions ranging from curiosity to horror.
