WTA: New career-high ranking for Petra Martic

ZAGREB, 13 January 2020 – Croatia’s no. 1 female tennis player, Petra Martic, has achieved a new career-high ranking after the WTA released the latest rankings on Monday.
Martic, who in October 2019 became the first women in over 16 years to become the best-ranked Croatian tennis player when she climbed to no. 17 in the world, has improved and has reached a career-high of world no. 14.
Martic is currently in Australia preparing for the Australian Open which starts next week. The 28-year-old reached the second round last week of the Auckland Open in New Zealand.
Martic has won one singles title on the WTA Tour – the 2019 Istanbul Cup, and reached the quarterfinals of the 2019 French Open. She has also won one WTA 125K series singles and one doubles tournament, as well as four singles and five doubles titles on the ITF Women’s Circuit.
Fellow Croatian, Donna Vekic, is ranked no. 20 in the world on the latest WTA rankings.
The best-ranked Croatian on the ATP tour is Borna Coric who comes in at no. 28. Marin Cilic is currently no. 38 in the world.
