Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Sea, Transport, and Infrastructure, Oleg Butković, visited Zadar County on Monday, where he attended the signing of the contract for the execution of works at Zadar Airport.
The project involves the ‘Electrification and Ecologization of the Aircraft Reception and Dispatch System at Zadar Airport’ with a total value of over 16 million euros, partly financed through the National Recovery and Resilience Plan.
Its aim is to ensure an environmentally friendly aircraft power supply system and equipment powered by renewable energy sources, ultimately reducing the emission of harmful gases into the environment.
With this new investment, Zadar Airport will become the first green airport to apply solar energy, enabling aircraft to be powered electrically.
The project, including the installation of aircraft power supply units on the apron, electrical equipment for aircraft handling, and a photovoltaic power plant, is worth 12.5 million euros, with 10 million euros in non-refundable funds from the Program, as reported by 057 Info.
