ZAGREB, May 26, 2022 – Passengers at Zagreb Airport now have the opportunity to fulfil their waiting time before boarding the plane, as well as during the trip, with a good book for which they will not need prior registration or membership fees.
ZAG Flybrary is a free library based on the principles of open access and sharing and is now located in theinternational departures area of Franjo Tuđman Airport.
A tense thriller, historical or love novel, poetry collection or something similar can be taken off the shelf for free, and if passengers have a book they have already read, they can leave it and give others a chance to enjoy it.
The basic rule is – Do you need one? Take one. Do you have one? Leave one.
The project was created by librarians Nika Matković Mikulčić and Tito Kliska and was realized in cooperation with the Zagreb City Libraries and Velika Gorica City Library.
The project is also an example of good cooperation with institutions from the local community, which is an important part of socially responsible business at International Zagreb Airport.
The ZAG Flybrary collection currently has almost 700 titles in Croatian and several foreign languages and includes various genres – from romance, science fiction and thriller, travelogues, and biographies to novels and children stories.
The idea of the project is to make the book a free medium and to support the exchange of knowledge in a free, simple, and ultimately environmentally friendly way.
“To keep track of destinations where our books are traveling, but also where the new titles came from, we invite passengers to use the hashtag #ZAGFlybrary and share their content with us on social media,” the airport said.
