Zagreb and Zadar hosting the 23rd European Short Story Festival

ZAGREB,  4 June  (Hina) – The 23rd edition of the Festival of the European Short Story, which the organisers promote as one of the first short story festivals in Europe,  will take place in the capital city of Zagreb and in the Dalmatian city of Zadar from 5 to 9 June.

The interview of German author Ingo Schulze which will be conducted by Andrija Škare in the Gavella Theatre  on Wednesday will kick off the festival.

On Thursday, Irish writer Nuala O’Connor (Nuala Nн Chonchъir) and Colombian Hйctor Abad Faciolince will present their works.

The festival also features Chloe Aridjis,  who gained international recognition with her first novel Book of Clouds, and Hassan Blasim, who became the first ever Arabic writer to win the Independent Foreign Fiction Prize for his work “The Iraqi Christ”. Several prominent writers from Croatia are also guests at the festival.

The festival, organised by the Croatian Writers’ Society, is being realised in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture and Media of the Republic of Croatia, the City of Zagreb, the City of Zadar, the Goethe-Institut, Traduki, the Embassy of Spain in Zagreb and Literature Ireland.
