ZAGREB, 31, May 2024 – The capital of Croatia celebrated its special day on Friday.

Zagreb City Day is celebrated on May 31st, coinciding with the feast of Our Lady of the Stone Gate. Historically, the date for this celebration varied, but since 1999, it has been permanently tied to the city’s patroness.

On May 31, 1731, the painting of Our Lady miraculously survived a devastating fire, cementing this date in the city’s history.

This year, as every year, Zagreb City Day was marked by a variety of programs and concerts organised by the City of Zagreb, city institutions, and companies.

The Zagreb Tourist Board also organised a series of activities, The Changing of the Guard by the Cravat Regiment, Zagreb Time Machine events, performances by folklore ensembles, children’s theatre performances and special city tours.
