From 1 April, public transport in the Croatian Zagreb will be free for all residents under the age of 18, as well as a larger number of people with disabilities.
This comes after last year’s decision to provide free transport for those over 65.
With this latest move, around 120,000 children under 18 and tens of thousands of people with disabilities will no longer have to pay for public transport.
In total, approximately 300,000 Zagreb residents now enjoy free travel.
“This decision helps fight child poverty and reduces family expenses, alongside our support for kindergartens,” said Zagreb Mayor Tomislav Tomašević.
How to Get a Free Ticket
Children under 18 with a registered residence in Zagreb can apply for their free public transport pass at designated ZET sales points, including terminals at Ljubljanica, Črnomerec, Savski most, Dubrava, Dubec, Sesvete, Borongaj, Mihaljevac, and others.
For those who purchased an annual ZET pass before this decision was announced, refunds will be available from 1 April.
Parents or legal guardians can claim refunds at Ozaljska 105 when collecting the free transport coupon. Refund requests must be submitted by 30 September 2025.
