Zagreb is increasingly becoming a year-round tourist destination, as confirmed by the October results from the Zagreb Tourist Board.
The Croatian capital recorded a significant increase in tourist arrivals and overnight stays, with 12% more tourists visiting in October compared to the same period last year, HRT reported.
This positive growth trend is expected to continue in the coming months, especially for the Advent season.
From the beginning of the year to the end of October, Zagreb recorded a 9% rise in arrivals and a 6% increase in overnight stays compared to the same period last year.
Most visitors come from the United States, Germany, South Korea, and Italy.
“Zagreb is highly competitive, offering real value for money—prices truly reflect what Zagreb has to offer tourists,” says Martina Bienenfeld, Director of the Zagreb Tourist Board.
The positive trend continues, with Advent beginning on 30th November.
“We can already see positive indicators, with early forecasts for Advent showing strong interest. CNN has recently published a list of cities to visit in December, and we’re delighted to see Zagreb ranked highly,” Bienenfeld adds.
Hotel manager Nikolina Kuhar also anticipates growth in December:
“We’re already seeing weekends fill up gradually, so I believe weekday bookings will increase as well,” Kuhar told HRT.
Most guests stay for one or two nights, with a growing interest in tours—both city tours and themed experiences.
“Late November marks the start of the most intensive period, which is Advent. It’s very popular for tourist tours, and we already have numerous bookings,” notes Lana Marić Štimac, President of the Zagreb Tourist Guides Association.
Advent will run until 7th January, and it’s been confirmed that New Year’s Eve celebrations at the main square will feature young performers, including Miach, Grše, Hiljson Mandela, and Baby Lasagna, along with the renowned Josipa Lisac.
