Zagreb has been nominated for the prestigious City of Film award by renowned film magazine Screen International as part of the Global Production Awards 2025.

The Croatian capital finds itself in impressive company, making it to the finals alongside global production powerhouses like New York, Belfast, Sydney and the Gold Coast.

The nomination recognises cities that have made a strong contribution to film and TV production in recent years, supported local talent, and shown a clear vision for the importance of the audiovisual industry in cultural and economic life.

One standout achievement is the number of filming days in Zagreb, which saw a big rise in 2024. A total of 542 shooting days were recorded last year – up from 455 days in 2023 – showing just how attractive Zagreb has become for both domestic and international productions.

The nomination was submitted by the Zagreb Film Office, which has played a role in supporting the city’s growth as a filming destination.

The award ceremony will take place on 19 May during the Cannes Film Festival, one of the most important events in the global film calendar.
