Zagreb Zoo Celebrates 90th Birthday Today

Zagreb Zoo, located in Maksimir Park in the Croatian capital, celebrates its 90th Birthday on Saturday…
The 7-hectare zoo, which is a member of the World Association of Zoos and Aquariums and is a participant in the European Endangered Species Programme, first opened its doors on June 27, 1925. Reconstruction of the old zoo began in 1990.
To celebrate the milestone on Saturday the zoo opened its doors free to the public.
The zoo is home to 2225 animals representing 275 species, including snow leopard, red panda Okapi, Addax, Scimitar Oryx, North China leopard, Common Chimpanzee, Diana Monkey, Wisent, Pygmy Hippopotamus, and Bactrian Camel.
