Zagreb’s Esplanade named Historic Hotel of the Year at European Hotel Awards

25 March 2019 – Hotel Esplanade in Zagreb has won the title of Historic Hotel of the Year at the 2019 European Hotel Awards in Geneva, Switzerland.
The awards, which took place last week, saw Europe’s top hoteliers gather as the best in luxury and hospitality across the continent was celebrated with winners named across ten categories. The Croatian hotel took away the prestigious award for best historic hotel.
Hotel Esplanade’s director, Ivica Max Krizmanić was honoured to receive the award from Jérôme Chapman, director of the publication Références Hôteliers Restaurateurs.
“I’m proud of our Zagreb beauty, the icon of style, elegance and glamour. The Esplanade Hotel in 1925, with its luxurious interior, impressive architecture and modern amenities, attracted travellers on the renowned Orient Express. Today Esplanade, on the foundations of the tradition of top service, with its timeless charm and elegance, cultural and historical significance, continues to enchant the guests coming to Zagreb every day. This award once again proves that we are at the very top of not just European, but also world-wide luxury hotels,” said Krizmanić, as he congratulated his whole team on the achievement.
Hotel Esplanade has collected a number of prestigious global awards recently, including the Haute Grandeur Global award for their hotel, Zinfandel’s restaurant and Health Club. TripAdvisor also awarded Esplanade in their 2019 Traveller’s Choice Awards.
The Luxury Travel Guide also awarded Zinfandel’s for best contemporary restaurant in the Food and Drinks Awards, and the restaurant was also included in the Michelin Guide Croatia with Le Bistro.
