ZAGREB, 6 July 2019 – The first and only Michelin star restaurant in the Croatian capital, Zagreb, is opening up in Istria.
Noel will open near the Istrian town of Buje this month, the restaurant’s manager and chief sommelier Ivan Jug told Kult Plave Kamenice. Noel Buje will open as part of the luxury boutique hotel San Canzian in Mužolini Gornji near Buje on 15 July. The hotel will open for guests on 1 August.
In February this year, Noel in Zagreb was awarded a Michelin star to become the first restaurant in the capital with the prestigious plaque and just the 5th in Croatia.
“A fashionable restaurant with soft lighting and trendy, internationally inspired furnishings, where guests can enjoy exciting, colourful cuisine prepared by the owner-chef. The delicious modern and creative dishes served here are accompanied by a selection of Croatian, French and Italian wines carefully chosen by the sommelier-partner,” Michelin inspectors noted.
Noel Buje, who said that they will partner with ‘splendid Istrian wineries’, will be a fine dining restaurant in the evening with a dégustation menu and during the day will operate a regular trattoria style menu.
The head chef at Noel Buje is Daniel Tschachler, a chef who has worked at some of the best restaurants in the world such as Central Lime and D.O.M. Head sommelier will be Filip Savić, a former Croatian sommelier champion.
